Here at Yatarna, we specialize in breeding and raising Highland Cattle with a focus on genetic diversity, breed character and sound temperament - all whilst following the principles of regenerative agriculture.
We employ advanced artificial breeding techniques including MOET and IVF embryo transfer, as well as AI to enhance the quality of our Fold and ensure we are producing true to type, yet resilient cattle that are suited to the Australian environment.
All our cattle are raised to strict health protocols, maintaining the highest standards in animal care at all times. With over a decade of experience as registered Highland breeders, our cattle are renowned for their traditional type, excellent temperament and adaptability, making them ideal for both showing and beef production.
All our animals are FIB registered with the Australian Highland Cattle Society and nt-821 free.

We occasionally have cows of breeding age for sale, either with calf at foot, pregnancy tested in calf, or both.
Being proven breeders means you buy an animal with a proven track record and experience in raising a calf, a great choice especially for beginners as it takes much of the guesswork out!
We pride ourselves on being a market leader in breeding Highland bulls of sound structure, temperament and breed character. All our bulls have to pass a rigorous assessment in order to be selected as future sires. They are offered for sale from 18 months of age onwards and only after they are proven sires and semen tested. All our bulls are halter trained and exceptionally quiet.

We have weaned and halter trained heifers available to go their new homes every year around June/July.
Whether you are an existing breeder wanting to add some Yatarna genetics to your fold, or a beginner planning to dive into the exciting world of breeding these majestic creatures - we are always happy to guide you through the process of choosing the right animal for your needs. Whether it is stud show animals, beef production, or just a bit of a hobby.
If you would love to have Highlands around but you are not planning on breeding, steers are definitely your best and most economic choice.
Great for beginners, BnB's and hobby farmers, these guys are pretty low key to look after and make the perfect lawn mowers / paddock ornaments.
They are incredibly inquisitive by nature and are easily trained to come running for treats, a good brush or just good company.
